The team at Connect2Education were thrilled to receive a grant from Hambleton and District Council to go towards their brand new cooking facility in the Stokesley Centre.
The children and young people who attend Connect2Education can now add cooking & life skills to their timetable. Our teachers have used cooking to help some students understand weights and measures as well as a PHSE focus on health & nutrition.
In addition, children and young people who may have a high level of anxiety about being ‘in education’ or may have neuro diverse needs and prefer a quiet environment, are discovering that they have creative skills, from designing recipes to cooking for others, our kitchen is proving to be a wonderful learning environment.
Our calm cooking sessions are especially successful with children who may feel anxious about trying new ideas or who may need significant support to re-engage with learning. Each session is designed to support confidence and emotional resilience.
